Hypocrisy at the Top

Most of you have probably heard about the recent intelligence leaks in the federal government. Well, Bush finally confessed today that he declassified intelligence information in 2003, after bipartisan requests that he reveal his role in this whole drama to the public. His reasoning for the declassification: "I thought it was important for people to get a better sense of what I was saying in my speeches... and I felt I could do so without jeopardizing ongoing intelligence matters." Well, you thought wrong. It seems pretty obvious that he did it for completely political reasons to silence his critics and boost public support for the Iraq war. In addition, he publicly stated that anyone in his administration revealed to have leaked the information would be penalized, despite doing it himself and not coming forward. This administration is ridiculous. One poor decision after another, covered up by one lie after another. Even though it's the decent thing to do, I respect certain members of the Republican party for getting involved and putting pressure on one of their own.

this is my problem with politics: parties. yeah, i know democracy is virtually unpracticible if there are hundreds of candidates per election, but the "us vs them" mentality is only problematic. i am glad to see that you are deviating slightly from that, being able to have any degree of respect for "your enemies," but it must change or this country will go nowhere.

or i can just be elected to the presidency. then i will solve all problems ever, when i declare a dictatorship and ignore the pleas of the ignorant masses who don't know what they're talking about.

don't put words in my mouth! i've never been a big advocate of the two-party system - i would like to see it expanded to additional parties. also, i have never called Republicans my "enemies." there are a number of Republicans that i have a great deal of respect for.

if you become dictator, can we make carrot cake the national food?

the republican party should be split in two or three. the democratic party ought to be deported en masse, and some new left of center party should come into being to replace them. bill clinton can stay though.

Note, I am not a huge fan out our 2-party system.

But, there are inherent problems when you have a more-than-2 party system, in that small minority parties now have a disproportionate amount of power. Think of the power a 2-senator strong "carrot cake should be banned" party would have if the senate were split 49-49-2.

Oh, and I call you out on that "number of Republicans you have a great deal of respect for". Name 5 living ones who are currently elected officials, and note why you like them. :-)
