Crotchety Old Men

One of my favorite shows is "This Week with George Stephanopoulos" on Sunday morning. He usually has very good guests and asks tough, yet fair questions. Each time I watch the show however, I am more and more disenchanted with our current Congressional leaders. I wanted John Kerry to be elected to the Presidency in 2004 as much as the next liberal, but he should have figured out by now that finger pointing does not win over the hearts and minds of the American people. This article from CNN contains some of his quotes from yesterday's show. One of the most ridiculous being, "Osama bin Laden is going to die of kidney failure before he's killed by Karl Rove and his crowd." Sitting there and listing all of the things that the current administration has done wrong is not a solution to any of America's problems. The Democrats are putting on a big push to gain more seats in Congress this year, but that's not going to happen unless they stop looking backwards and start thinking ahead. No matter how much you may agree with someone's standpoint, it's hard to back them when they are constantly complaining and being negative. For anyone who watched the DNC, I was so inspired by Barack Obama's speech. He was enthusiastic and his vision of a strong, united America in which everyone gets a chance really came through. Sometimes I think that the Congressional veterans are so used to arguing and pointing fingers at their fellow rich, out-of-touch contemporaries that they have lost sight of what Americans really want and need. No wonder so much of the public is wary and indifferent.

i bumped into george stephonopolous in the bathroom of the lincoln plaza cinemas, a couple of years back. i forgot which movie was playing... i think it was the version of hamlet with ethan hawk and bill murray, but i don't recall. anyway. john kerry is a loon. i voted for him, but he's gotten far worse since then. whenever he speaks i cringe and think he sounds like an idiot. but then i think that of most of the high profile politicos. :oT baaaah.
